Another 500 kv transmission line between Sichuan and Tibet

On April 3, the state grid's 500-kilovolt line from Batang to Lancang River and the expansion of a 500-kilovolt substation in Batang opened, adding a 500-kilovolt transmission line to Tibet. The project passes through Batang County, Baiyü County and Chamdo in Tibetan Autonomous Region, Gonjo County, Zhag'Yab County and Karub District in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province. It stops at the Lancang River 500kv power station, with a total length of 178.5 km. 

“Along the route of the project, at an altitude of 3,200 to 4,900 meters above sea level, we overcame the difficulties of transporting materials and achieved the construction task on schedule,” said Xu Zhiguo, the project manager of the project, sichuan power transmission and distribution company of China National Grid Studies and formulates the technical scheme of the shortest distance wiring.

 It is learned that after the project is successfully put into operation, the power corridor between Sichuan and Tibet power grids will be increased to three times, and the interworking and mutual assistance capacity between the two provincial and regional power grids will be doubled, better meeting the needs of economic and social development in the central and eastern regions of Tibet, create strong conditions for clean energy development and absorption such as water and scenery on both sides of the Jinsha River.
